Where it fits
A strip of titles suits a blog, a news site, a club or a company with regular announcements: any site where the newest thing is the thing a visitor wants to see. It is common in a header or just under a hero image, and in a footer on sites where visitors tend to read to the bottom.
What you control
- The number of titles, 1 to 20.
- A category, or all posts.
- The direction, speed and spacing, as for any strip.
- The label for screen readers. It is “Latest posts” unless you change it.
What you do not have to do
Create a list. Keep it up to date. Hide a post you have not published: a draft or a private post is left out by design, and so is a post under a password.
How it gets the posts
When the page is built, the plugin asks WordPress for the newest published posts, with sticky posts ignored and without counting the total number of posts, which keeps the query light. It then fetches no term or meta data it would not use. On a page without a ticker none of this runs.
For something richer
Titles are the lean option. When a ticker should carry a picture and a date, or draw from pages and custom post types as well, look at the Pro post cards.
