The steps
- Open Appearance → Editor → Patterns and choose your Header template part.
- Click above the site title and menu, press + and insert a Text ticker.
- Write the announcements: one short paragraph each, such as a delivery cut-off, a sale or an opening time.
- Give the block a background and text colour in the block settings, and set it to full width if the theme allows.
Save, and look at any page on the front of your site.
Make each message a link
An announcement nobody can click is only a sign. Select the text of a paragraph and add a link in the usual way, so the bar leads somewhere: the sale page, the shipping policy, the booking form.
Not every visitor wants it moving
A bar at the top is the first thing every visitor sees, on every page, so it is where motion costs the most. The plugin keeps the Pause button beside the strip, stops the motion while the strip is hovered or has keyboard focus, and starts a strip standing still, scrollable by hand, for a visitor whose device asks for reduced motion. Those are not extras to switch on: they are how the block always behaves.
What it does not have
There is no close button that remembers a visitor's choice, and no schedule that switches the bar off on a date. To stop an announcement, edit or delete the block. If you need a bar that comes and goes on a calendar, a plugin made for that is the better fit.
The pattern in a template part is covered in more detail in the template part guide.
