Which one is yours?

Open the Appearance menu. If you see Widgets, your theme uses widget areas, and the steps below apply. If you see Editor instead, you have a block theme: use the template part guide.

Add the block to a widget area

  1. Go to Appearance → Widgets and open the area you want, such as the sidebar.
  2. Press the + button, search for ribbonfly and insert a Text ticker or a Logo strip.
  3. Edit the content, then press Update.

A sidebar is narrow

A horizontal strip in a narrow sidebar shows only a few words at a time, which is rarely what you want. Two things help. Set the direction to Up or Down and give the block a height; the strip then rolls vertically in the space it has. Or put the marquee in a wider area such as the footer or a full-width banner area.

The height for a vertical strip is a setting of its own, from 50 to 1000 pixels. The default is 300.

The classic editor and shortcodes

The plugin does not ship a shortcode. Its home is the block editor, the Site Editor and Elementor. A site that still uses the classic editor for posts can use the Widgets screen for blocks, but a marquee inside a classic-editor post body is not something this plugin sets out to do.
