Set it up
- With the free plugin and the Pro add-on both active, drag Ribbonfly Post Cards from the Ribbonfly Marquee category onto a container.
- In Posts, choose the content type, a category and a tag, how many to show and in which order.
- Choose whether to show the featured image and the date, and how many words of excerpt.
- Set the speed under Motion.
Content types
The list of content types is built from what your site has: posts, pages and any public custom content type, such as a portfolio or an events type. The category and tag filters apply to posts only.
Why a strip and not a carousel
A carousel waits, then jumps to the next slide, and gives the visitor arrows to move between them. A strip never waits and never jumps. For a row of recent posts that is usually what a visitor wants: a glance at what is new. Reaching an old post is the job of an archive page, not of this widget.
Pause and reduced motion
The Pause button, the hover and focus pause and the reduced-motion behaviour are those of the free plugin, so the Pro widget is as accessible as the free one. For someone who has asked their device for less motion the cards stand still, in a row that scrolls sideways by hand.
For the cheaper version
If a list of titles is enough, the free Elementor news ticker does it with no add-on. Pro adds the cards, and the sources beyond posts. See the pricing page.
